From Lake Cunningham to the Olympic stage.

From Beautiful waters to the World Stage

The Bahamas became a World Rowing (FISA) member federation in 2011. The Excellence Rowing Club was the first Official Rowing Club (2011), followed by Nassau Rowing Club (2012) then Scullers Rowing, Exuma 2015. The national rowing site at Lake Cunningham offers 3,500 metres of flat, calm water ideal for year-round training.

Since inception, Bahamian rowers from Scullers Rowing have competed at the Latin American Coastal Rowing Championship and won a Gold Medal, this was the first ever gold medal for the country in these events. Excellence Rowing Club also won Gold, Silver and Bronze in El Salvador with Melissa Swaby-Mackey wining bronze and silver in the womens double and Lex Fountain winning gold in the under 17 boys singles. Jason Williams won silver in the mens open singles, these medals were the first ever medals won for the country. Excellence Rowing Club, Skullers Rowing Club has consistently sent rowers to World Junior Championships and World Rowing Championships including World Coastal Rowing Championships including the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, where Emily Morley became the first Bahamian to compete in Olympic rowing.
